Toby Martin Wins Australian Opens titles. ( And over 35's!!)

28 August, 2010
Former World Tour competitor Toby Martin (Dee Why) netted the day’s biggest haul of Australian titles, netting a win in both the Open men's and Over 35 men’s Finals. In a passion filled final, Martin scored an 8.35 on the final buzzer to beat Western Australian legend Dave Macaulay (Gracetown), who earlier in the day won the over 45 men’s final, 15.85 to 15.15.

Martin
now has a trifecta of Aussie titles, having won the over 28 men’s final in 2008. “I’m a pretty emotional guy, but that tops that,” said Martin. “The emotion to need a big score and come back and get it was awesome. I don’t know if it gets better than this. That open Australian title doesn’t come around that often.”

Saturday 24 January 2009

Sunday January 25th 2009. Dee Why Surfing Fraternity's team of Toby Martin, Isaac Buckley, Dean White, Danny Sheather and Dean McColl totally blitzed their heat today picking up the bonus points for first in as well as first place against teams including surfers like Tom Carrol from Newport PLus, Norah Heads, Eloura ...at the quarter finals of the Jim Beam Tag Teams at North Narrabeen. Semis and final with Dee Why up again at 10 am tomorrow morning.,Go DYSF!!!!
Tuesday january 27th: The team put on another brilliant effort for the quarterfinals yesterday but the inconsistent swell hampered everyone a bit and we narrowly missed advancing to the event finals, beaten by eventual winners Bronte who probably deserved extra points just for the paintedbluenakedfrogjumping. Maybe we need to work on that?
